FIERCE
Frankfurt Isotope & Element Research Center
The Frankfurt Isotope and Element Research Center (FIERCE) is a cross-faculty laboratory facility dedicated to inorganic isotopic and elemental analysis. It is located in the Institute of Geosciences at Goethe-University Frankfurt, with members from the faculties of Biosciences and Physics as well as the Senckenberg Research Centre, plus institutions outside Frankfurt.
Spatially-resolved, besides solution-based, isotopic and elemental analysis represents the key focus of our research activities in a wide range of application areas.
Infrastructure / Equipment of FIERCE
Mass Spectrometers and Preparation:
-
Various state-of-the-art facilities for elemental and isotopic analyses, namely single-collector (ICPMS) and multi-collector inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometers (MC-ICPMS).
- (MC-)ICPMS are used in conjunction with both solution and laser-ablation sample introduction systems
